March 18, 2024: Kelowna implements small-scale housing and transit-area zoning

· Zoning Bylaw No. 12375 amendments

On March 18, 2024, Council adopted amendments to implement provincial small-scale multi-unit housing (SSMUH) and Transit-Oriented Area rules. The City describes up to four homes in suburban areas and up to five or six in core areas, subject to the rules for each lot.

Kelowna says the changes affect most residential zones within the Permanent Growth Boundary. A unit allowance is not a promise that a particular building form fits: lot dimensions, zone regulations and other site limits still apply. Check the current bylaw and confirm with the City of Kelowna.
