December 4, 2025: Housing policy updates guide growth near transit hubs

· Maple Ridge Official Community Plan and Area Plan amendments adopted in 2025

Maple Ridge adopted targeted Official Community Plan and area-plan updates by December 4, 2025 to align with provincial housing requirements. The City says the changes add small-scale multi-unit housing policies and increased density around transit hubs, while updating Town Centre, Hammond, Silver Valley and Albion planning frameworks.

These plan designations guide future rezoning and development decisions; they do not automatically change every property's zoning or grant a project approval. Check both the OCP designation and current zoning map, then read the applicable zone and plan policies.

June 25, 2024: SSMUH rules add more options to eligible residential lots

· Maple Ridge Zone Amending Bylaw No. 7998-2024

Maple Ridge adopted Zone Amending Bylaw 7998-2024 on June 25, 2024. It updated residential zoning rules for small-scale multi-unit housing, including density, height, setbacks, parking and lot coverage, and created an Urban Infill Residential framework.

The City describes three-, four- or six-unit allowances on eligible single-family and duplex lots, subject to water and sewer service, urban-area location, lot size and other conditions. These counts do not guarantee a matching building form or permit; use the City's locator and check the current bylaw.
